December is here and in Raleigh it is that time. Santa will be visiting soon and there are plenty of activities and family events taking place. If time allows for it there are a few things you can do to proactively keep your roof safe.
Clean out your gutters. Of course, we are a gutter protection company, and one of our tips is going to be to keep your gutters clean. If this is on your list, be sure to check out our gutter cleaning tips. Keeping gutters free from debris not only keeps your gutters happy, it prevents foundation damage.
Trim your trees. Now that your gutters are squeaky clean it is time to trim trees. Trees shed dead branches here in North Carolina the winter, especially if we happen to get some snow or ice.
Add interior insulation. If you are not sure what to get yourself for Christmas this year consider interior insulation. We run into homes in the Raleigh area all the time that do not have insulation, or have inadequate insulation. This reduces your carbon footprint, lowers your electric bill, and, when heat escapes through your roof it can lead to water backups.
Roof inspections and repairs. Now is as good as a time as any to inspect your shingles. If you are uncomfortable inspecting your roof, feel free to give us a call. We perform roofing repairs all the time. Also be sure to inspect seals and flashing.
