Some of our clients ask use what kind of gutters they have.
Gutter materials
As for materials, most people in North Carolina have vinyl (PVC plastic), steel, aluminum, or copper gutters. If your gutters are made of metal and you’re not sure if they are aluminum or steel you can use a magnet. If your magnet sticks to the gutter, you have a steel gutter.
Gutter styles
The two most common gutter styles in North Carolina are K gutters and half-round.
Half-round gutters look like a cylinder which has been halved.
A K style gutter looks a little like this image below and comes in sizes of 4, 5, 6, 7, & 8”. 5” is the most common around here. To measure your K gutter simply measure the top of the gutter’s materials from the back to the front.
There is also a fascia gutter but they are no very common in North Carolina; if you have one of these you probably already know. These are affixed to the building’s fascia.
